Utilidad de sígnos tomográficos en la resecabilidad del cáncer de páncreas
Abstract:
Introduction: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is the most frequent tumor of pancreatic neoplasms, its risk factors (smoking, chronic pancreatitis, and genetic, mutations in the KRAS gene) are known; Due to its aggressive infiltrative behavior, and its anatomical location, being in close contact with vascular structures and organs of the digestive system, it allows its rapid local and lymphatic dissemination. Generally, when the patient reports symptoms, the tumor is already in an advanced stage. Objective: To determine the usefulness of tomographic signs in the resectability of pancreatic cancer. Materials and methods: The research will be carried out at ION SOLCA, the data will be collected from the clinical history and image files, and it is a retroprospective study of validation of diagnostic tests, as a sample will be taken from all patients with a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of pancreas that after medical evaluation will undergo positive or negative resection. Results: the highest percentage of patients affected by pancreatic cancer were female patients. The population ranged from 61 to 90 years old, coming from the coast. The dominant clinical manifestation was abdominal pain, followed by generalized jaundice and weight loss; resectability according to surgical criteria reached 37.1%. The tomographic results of resectability according to surgical criteria were presented with the highest percentage for limited growth towards the peripancreatic fat or duodenum. Conclusions: The resectability of pancreatic cancer was presented in a high percentage evidenced by the high sensitivity and specificity resulting from the usefulness of tomographic signs, favoring a correct staging from the imaging point of view, towards the diagnosis and adequate clinical treatment of pancreatic carcinoma. Key words: tomographic signs, resectability, pancreatic canc
