Abstract:

Since the ongoing SERVIR program of NASA and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) was established in 2005, supporting countries' land cover monitoring efforts has been a hallmark. With the program currently focused on five regions in Africa, the Americas, and Asia, a range of land cover, land use, and ecosystems-related services are being implemented, with multiple SERVIR hub organizations implementing regional land cover monitoring systems for tracking land cover change, such as the Eastern & Southern Africa Forest Observatory (OFESA) implemented by the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development.
