Valoración de bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad en los niños/ñas de la escuela fiscal Víctor Llore Mosquera del cantón Cuenca 2011

Abstract:

OBJECTIVE: EVALUATION OF LOW WEIGHT, OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY IN CHILDREN SCHOOL TAX "CRY MOSQUERA VICTOR" THE CANTON RIVER BASIN 2011. Methods: this is a cross-sectional study that will determine the prevalence of malnutrition in children school as "Victor Mosquera Cry" the Canton Cuenca. The study group was 169 children between 6 to 13 years, we performed the calculation of the statistical sample by applying a formula being of 141 children from second to seventh year of basic education. Techniques and tools The research techniques used were: The interview made with parents about socioeconomic status, health and education and anthropometric assessment by taking weight and height of girls. This research took into consideration 141 children / as the second to seventh year of basic education with the following results:  25% of children underweight.  64% of children with normal weight.  6% of overweight children.  5% of children with obesity. Conclusions: Nutritional problems such as malnutrition are associated with impaired quality of life manifested in low wages, inadequate housing, inadequate intake of nutrients by low wages.
