Valoración del bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad de las niñas de la Escuela Fiscal Manuel Guerrero de la parroquia El Valle del cantón Cuenca, 2010-2011
Abstract:
Objective. To determine the low weight, overweight and obesity of the children of a Fiscal School by means of the taking of weight and charts. Material and methods. The universe is a cross-sectional design was of 465 children and the sample of 84 students of basic second to a seventh of education of the School Manuel Guerrero of the Valley rural parish of the corner River basin to determine the nutritional state by means of the calculation of the index of corporal mass and the relations weight/age and carves/age. Results. The rank of age of the study population was between 6 and 13 years. There were 40,5% of low peso, 47,6 of normal peso and 4,8% of overweight Were 46,4% of low stature for the age and 4,7% of high stature for the age. Normality, according to the table of Cronk was in the 66,7% of the children. According to the nutritional habits only the 38,1% feed 3 times the day, 17.8% does twice, 29.7% four times and 14.3% five times to the day. The ingestion of 1500 to 1999 calories per day occurred in 50% of the sample, 28.5% ingest between 1000 and 1499 calories and the 21,4% by on the 2000 calories. Discussion. Some of the results are concordant with other studies realized previously in the country in students of countryside of Quito and Guayaquil but our prevalence of low weight and overweight in a feminine population has its differences. More studies make lack to collect precise data.
