Valoración del bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad de los niños y niñas de la educación básica del Colegio Fiscal Manuel Corral Jáuregui del cantón Cuenca. 2010-2011

Abstract:

Determine the prevalence of nutritional status, underweight, overweight and obesity of the adolescents of basic education of public school "Manuel Corral Jáuregui" in the parish Totoracocha, Canton Cuenca 2010-2011. Techniques and Methodology: The type of cross-sectional descriptive study is to identify the prevalence of underweight, overweight and obese adolescents. The techniques used were the interview with the parents about socioeconomic and anthropometric evaluation of height and weight on teens 8th, 9th, and 10th of Basic School "Manuel Jauregui Corral". The universe was 123 adolescents, the sample was 55 adolescents. For the evaluation of the results was used as a percentile value, the formula of Nelson, NCHS curves, Cronk table that reveal until 12 years age, weight, and increasing percentiles of body mass. Results: The investigation determined that exists, 29.10% presented malnutrition, 65.50% normal weight, overweight 3.60% and 1.80% obesity where predominate the hyper carbonated diet. Conclusion: Nutritional problems found in adolescents, are directly related to family socio-economic conditions and the deteriorating quality of life.
