A detailed DLMAIE roadmap for transactional lean six sigma projects

Abstract:

Six Sigma (SS) projects are commonly classified into operational and transactional. The former uses the Define- Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) framework while the latter uses the Define-Measure-Analyze- Innovate-Embed (DMAIE) framework. Nowadays, transactional SS projects have increased, therefore, consultants and trainees require different and clear guidelines to perform SS projects and finally obtain a SS certification. This paper proposes a roadmap and a rubric to be used on transactional SS projects focused on services and administrative processes. The proposal is based on a literature review, a revision of completed transactional projects in a certification company, and a QFD approach applied to determine the needs of consultants to facilitate the tutorial process. Some general suggestions are also provided.
