Vechicle Counting System in Urban Areas: A Practical Case
Abstract:
Controlling the vehicular traffic problems has become a priority in modern cities. In this work, a vehicle counting system is presented that quantifies the number of vehicles that travel on a road by means of their detection, using a discipline known as computer vision. The present work describes the details of the implementation of a functional prototype which was developed using the iterative development methodology. Automating the vehicle counting process with a technology of this type allows obtaining more accurate results in a faster and more comfortable way, facilitating the process of decision-making performed by the authorities on subjects of vehicle mobility and city planning.
