Virtual tool with the use of a haptic device for concentration therapy in children with attention deficit

Abstract:

A virtual tool for concentration therapies in children with attention deficit is presented. 13 consecutive scenes were created in Unity 3D, with cube models which are based on the “Design with Cubes” of the WISC-IV test; As part of the stimulation, a haptic device was adopted to increase the attention capacity of the children. The tool was used by 5 children aged between 9 and 12 years and under the supervision of a specialist. During the four carried out sessions, it was observed that the virtual tool increases the immersion and rises the concentration capacity of the children; also, it increases the commitment and motivation of the patient towards the therapy, so it could be used in therapies for children suffering from ADHD.
