Visual Impairment a Challenge to Teach English Using Emerging Technologies


Abstract:

Visual impairment students become a challenge for teachers in different learning environment at university. This challenge increases when the teaching and learning process is related to the learning of a second language, due to the absence of educational resources available in any educative institute and the lack of knowledge of appropriate methodologies and didactic strategies to develop the different English linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). According to this problem, the present research is proposed by a new methodology strategy, based on the usage of a meaningful learning and the emerging technologies to lead and encourage visual impaired students to learn the English language process, thus, a route map of an educational innovation is presented for teachers who run into visual impairment students in heterogeneous classroom environment, this will stablish a holistic communication allowing an active and students' autonomous participation.
