Visuality and revolution. An approach compared to the second Spanish Republic and the popular unity in Chile
Abstract:
The starting point of this article is the aesthetic manifestation as expression of a more ample sociocultural context that simultaneously conditions this aesthetic manifestation while providing sense to it. To exemplify this, posters of Chile and Spain in two similar historical moments have been analyzed: The Popular Unity and the Second Republic respectively. In both cases, their graphics represented the artistic trends and the central protagonist of the messages was the new citizen revolution intended to construct.
