Voltage Profile Enhancement Using Multi-Objective Sine Cosine Algorithm for Optimal Installation of DSTACOMs into Distribution Systems

Abstract:

In this paper, a Multi-Objective optimization technique based on Sine Cosine Algorithm (MOSCA) combined with fuzzy logic decision making is implemented for optimal installation of multiple Distribution STATic COMpensators (DSTATCOMs) in distribution networks. The optimization procedure is carried out to determine the optimum size and location of DSTATCOMs that leads to minimize the power losses, Voltage Deviation (VD), in addition, maximize the Voltage Stability Index (VSI) of the radial distribution system. The fuzzy logic controller is built to express the decision maker preferences among the three objective functions where each objective function is fuzzed and represented by a certain membership function. To prove the effectiveness of MOSCA, a comprehensive comparison is performed with well-known MOPSO and the other optimization method used in the same issue. All simulations are achieved using the IEEE-33 bus and IEEE-69 bus distribution systems in MATLAB environment.
