Voxel: A 3D rendering proposal
Abstract:
Voxel is known as a unit of three-dimensional representation. It has a great potential for the application in its composition for all kinds of signals and objects. This work searches to determine the computational methods that allow the generation of discrete elements, which integrates objects and signals. These representative elements are visualized in a array of a led light cubic structure. First, the volumetric approximation is used to represent audio signals, by using the decibel as unit for its representation. The LM3915 integrated circuit is used for the audio, so that the audio signal is divided into representative voltage values and the PIC16F877 microcontroller. The first one shows the cubic light prototype with 125 LEDs(5×5×5). After that, the PIC16F877 microcontroller stores the information in the light points of the letters and the specific shapes, which is represented in a 5×5×5 led light prototype, furtheremore the memory exchanges the device through the microcontroller and the prototype. Finally, a more detailed 8×8×8 prototype is used to represent objects designed under a computational environment. The provided code by the VoxCAD Project establishes a set of class hierarchies that allows the representation of objects based on the concept of Voxel within cubic structures. Future works related to this theme will allow to maintain temporary images designed in 3D formats in a light prototype to visualize objects and designed details prior to its construction.
