Wearable telemedicine system for real-time monitoring of electrocardiographic signals
Abstract:
This research proposes the design of a wearable device for acquisition of cardiac signals in real time. The signals are acquired by means of electrodes, in addition they are processed and treated by means of instrumentation amplifiers. This information is sent through the IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) protocol to a database. The electrocardiographic signals and the heart rate are displayed in a web environment which allow to analyze the P, Q, R, S, T and U waves of a normal electrocardiogram. This system was tested on 10 people of different ages in the range of 20 to 50 years. The tests show a system effectiveness of 90% compared with a certified medical device. The design of this portable system offers great comfort and mobility for patients. In addition, it helps practitioners to continuously rate people with heart diseases as well as prepare adequate medical treatments.
