What is there about scaling of agile software development? Preliminary findings from a systematic mapping study

Abstract:

Currently, due to globalization, software companies are opting to use large-scale agile development (LSAD) approaches. However, the subject about scaled agile approaches is relatively new and there is no standard or framework which can be used as a reference to guide the adequately adoption and/or implementation of scaling from a traditional/agile approach to a LSAD approach. In this sense, the objective of this systematic mapping is to present the current state about LSAD, in order to determine which are the characteristics/attributes that should be taken into account for the adaptation of a solution that is not suitable for LSAD to one that yes. With the results obtained, it has been possible to observe the novelty in this research subject as well as the few related studies, which is why it is necessary to propose solutions that conceive the LSAD approach through the total transformation of the processes in a software organization.
