Work Accident Investigation Software According to the Legal Requirements for Ecuadorian Companies

Abstract:

In Ecuador, workplace accidents are rarely reported to control entities. This under-registration limits the investigation of such events, which prevents the identification and control of their generating causes. This study proposes a methodological framework for investigating occupational accidents, which encompasses the technical and legal parameters that govern the process in Ecuador. A computer tool called “INVAC Software” has been developed to facilitate its application. It is a web-type application, with a modular structure, in whose construction the stages of the life cycle corresponding to the waterfall model were applied. INVAC could benefit Ecuadorian companies of all kinds to systematically outline and manage the activities and documentation related to the work accident investigation process. In this way, it favours compliance with the current legal framework and strengthens internal preventive management.
