Zinc in the treatment of the short stature


Abstract:

The objective of the article is to determine the effects of zinc in the treatment of short stature. A descriptive, retrospec­tive, cross-sectional, correlational study was applied. The medical records of 56 children with short stature and severe short stature were reviewed. The data were processed using the SPSS version 23 system. As a result, 55% of children are between the ages of 13 and 18 months, 82 % diagnosis of short stature, 18% diagnosis of severe short stature, 57% began treatment with a size of 66-73 centimeters, 56% of children received zinc at night, 46.4% increase 2 centime­ters in their size, 26, 8% 2 centimeters, no statistical significance was found between the start size and the increase in size, sex and the increase in size, time of administration and the increase in size. The medical diagnosis and increase in height showed statistical significance p = 0.033, prescribed dose and increase in size p = 0.001, age and medical diagnosis p = 0.022 and the relationship between the age of the children and the increase in height showed statistical significance p = 0.031.
