“ARQUITECTURA PARA SANAR: CENTRO ONCOLÓGICO CON UN ENFOQUE BIOFÍLICO DENTRO DE LA PARROQUIA LA PUNTILLA

Abstract:

Nevertheless, it represents one of the most influential factors towards them. It is capable of improving, accelerating, or even delaying the recovery process of a patient. However, it seeks to generate a more humanized, curative, creative architecture which is able to integrate with its environment, pursuing to celebrate life instead of restricting it. Cancer is known for being a painful and cruel pathology, it brings with it an enormous amount of mental and emotional burden that not only affects patients but also their families and the rest of health workers. It transforms any daily routine, by adapting to the various processes and treatments, thus making living into surviving. Nowadays in Ecuador there is a lack of specialized hospitals that can provide decent care to cancer patients. This scenario becomes even more complicated when considering the exponential growth of people suffering from this disease. The proposal of a Cancer Center with a biophilic approach within La Puntilla parish, allows a comprehensive development through the participation of two complementary generations and the presence of nature. Through research conducted through surveys, interviews, and some similar cases, the author was able to determine the appropriate strategies and criteria for the formulation of the project. The data obtained as a result, reveals the perspective of the present and future users and their need that go beyond theoretical architecture or hospitality books.
