Abstract:

On May 5, 2019 in the Central American country Panama, the presidential elections were held, where the main interest of this study was generated based on knowing how the three finalist candidates were able to reach the Panamanian population and convince the citizenship in general, to achieve through their vote being the president of the Republic of Panama, in a way that shows how the use of the microblogging network Twitter, the hashtag used by the candidate under study were: # Elecciones2019, #lobuenovuelve , #goodgovernment, #Eleccionespanama, #thenuevocambio, #Otrocaminopanama, #NitoPresidente, # Panama2019, #decent party, #romulopresident, #We continue, #sembrandoconciencia, #separtdelchange, #Todoloquelosune, #workingforpanama, #unidosndvenceremos, #unidosndvenceremos # votePanama, #yofinancioalombana. Where a total of 21352 tweets were generated. With the use of the Python program, the tweets containing hashtags referring to the presidential elections in Panama were extracted, where it was verified that the use of the social network Twitter could give victory to a candidate by using them, while the Finalists by not making much use of them, were losers in the electoral contest, it was verified, emotionally charged and political polarization. As a result, it was obtained that the candidate Evo Morales; He was involved in what was announced, denoting the positive emotional charge for the winner candidate Laurentino Cortizo in front of his contenders Rómulo Roux and Ricardo Lombana.
