High Availability Solution for Dual Stack Network of Small and Medium-Sized Companies Using Mikrotik and Interior Border Gateway Protocol
Abstract:
Nowadays there are many small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) that maintain connections between their branches, to implement a high availability solution for a dual stack network in companies using Mikrotik and IBGP (Interior Border Gateway Protocol), a basic architecture involving redundancy and load balancing can be followed, for this it will be necessary to design the network topology that supports IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, select the Mikrotik equipment that will be the core of the solution, configure the virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP) to provide router redundancy, implement IBGP to share routing information between routers within the same autonomous system, configure routing policies, monitoring and alerts, and finally, testing and maintenance. By implementing this solution, small and medium companies can achieve higher availability and reliability of their network infrastructure, allowing them to offer online services more efficiently and meet the needs of their customers.
