FANET Networks: Analysis of Routing Protocols
Abstract:
The evolution Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) networks from early ad-hoc communication networks to sophisticated Flying Ad-hoc Networks (FANETs) demonstrates significant progress. FANETs support massive deployments, rapid topology changes, configurable, and fault tolerance. This paper analyzes the performance of various routing algorithms-OLSR, DSDV, AODV, DSR, AOMDV, and HWMP-through simulations in NS3. The study evaluates these algorithms based on throughput, packet delivery ratio (PDR), and average delay under different scenarios: UAVs in static positions, UAVs flying at maximum speeds of 10 m/s and 20 m/s, with tests conducted using 25 and 50 UAVs. The results provide insights into the efficiency of these protocols in static and dynamic environments, offering valuable information for the design and optimization of UAV communication networks.
