Implementation of a Logarithmic Antenna at a Frequency of 2.4 GHz for a Low-Cost Laboratory


Abstract:

The research focuses on the contribution to wireless communications equipment for the development of practices. In this sense, the need arises from the lack of a logarithmic antenna prototype for academic practices; associated with describing, design, implement and evaluate a logarithmic antenna at a frequency of 2.4 GHz for the antenna laboratory of the Israel Technological University. This is subject to the use of a vector network analyzer (VNA), which allows studying the properties of reflection and transmission between the incident wave and the reflected wave (S-parameters), as well as the designs of different transmission elements. Additionally, mathematical calculations were used with theoretical data that contributed to the design and the HFSS software to evaluate this new geometric proposal of logarithmic antenna construction that allows improving the structure through compactness, minimum return losses with the study of its radiation patterns for the system; all this, with the respective assessment of the parameters referred to above. The implementation of a logarithmic antenna will allow Telecommunications students to evaluate, execute, and control activities related to the use of transmission and reception media, in a practical way, which entails strengthening their knowledge in the technological field, as well as supporting the practical and experimental activities of the study and research plans that reinforce the academic sense and in turn the significant contribution to the career. The results obtained and analyzed are S11 parameters, impedance, SWR and bandwidth.
