Interactive Educational Robot for Maths and English Learning
Abstract:
Robotics has become prominent at all levels of education, from primary schools to universities. Integrating these cutting-edge tools into the learning experience develops the technical and problem-solving abilities of the students, and promotes essential skills such as collaboration, creativity, and innovation. This paper presents the development and evaluation of an educational robot designed with low-cost electronic materials, open-source software, and a 3D-printed case as a complementary tool for teachers in the learning environment with the objective to increase the motivation of the students for learning subjects such as mathematics and English. This study followed a multi-phase approach corresponding to the design, assembly, and test phases. The robot facilitates primary-level education in English and mathematics through interactive learning activities. In English, it generates a word and prompts the child to select the corresponding picture card. In mathematics, it displays single-digit addition problems for the child to solve using numbered cards. The results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of such affordable technology integration for enhancing educational outcomes in subjects such as mathematicas and English.
