Advanced Algorithm for Automated Red Rose Counting Using Image Processing Techniques
Abstract:
Accurate rose counting in floral production environments is a major challenge in the agricultural industry due to the costly and error-prone nature of traditional methods. This study developed an automated red rose counting system using image processing to improve efficiency and accuracy. The system includes an algorithm that improves manual counting methods by employing image processing techniques and a structuring element based on pixel radius. Larger radius were found to reduce errors by filtering out unwanted elements, whereas smaller radius increased error probabilities due to noise and small objects. A 4-pixel radius proved effective under the tested conditions. This approach also showed potential for application across various rose colors, expanding its utility in the floral industry. The results indicated that the graphical interface-based counting provides a precise and updated total of roses, enabling better production management. Conclusively, the development of this red rose counting algorithm illustrates how technology can significantly enhance productivity and precision in the floral industry, thereby offering economic and environmental advantages and fostering innovation and automation in broader agricultural practices.
