Analytical methodology integrated with GIS for the estimation of agricultural waste in the biorefining processes
Abstract:
Many modern tools using geospatial technology are used nowadays, especially in the agri-food industry. This research paper shows a tool developed for a PhD thesis where an analytical method integrated with a geographic information system to quantify the crop residues generated on a national scale. The methodology was inspiring in the recommendations of the FAO. The experimentation field and harvest used came from Ecuador agriculture activity. As a result of the use of the methodology, an estimate was made of the available wastes per arable item to obtain sustainable income and minimize the environmental impact. All the procedure are compiled with the Open Source R-Cran package.
