Food sovereignty in Ecuador: description and bibliometric analysis

Abstract:

The importance of Food Sovereignty, as a pillar of change to the Food Model and agriculture, brings the need for the Ecuadorian Government to incorporate it as a fundamental Right since 2008. The objective of this research is to carry out a systematic review of documents indexed in high-impact database, containing scientific documents on Food Sovereignty within the Ecuadorian territory. The bibliographic database includes 51 articles published in the Web of Science and Scopus, with the terms “food sovereignty AND ecuador”, “food sovereignty AND ecuador”, “food sovereignty AND ecuador” and “food AND sovereignty AND ecuador”. The results show that this topic has been approached in a qualitative way and the scarce quantitative research uses descriptive statistical techniques and econometric models. The conclusions show a growing interest of the reviewed bibliography in new sustainable, holistic and integral food systems, present in an increase in the number of publications in the last decade.
