Edutokers in Ecuador and Peru: An Approach to Their Profiles

Abstract:

The world of communications has undergone significant changes in recent times, greatly impacting the field of education through the use of social media, where teaching and learning processes have been greatly modified. To carry out this study, a quantitative methodology was employed in February 2023, as part of an exploratory study of the most relevant Edutokers from two countries, in order to address the stated objective: to understand the profile of the main Edutokers in Peru and Ecuador. Thus, four criteria were established to select educational influencers on TikTok for this research: age and education, identity, trajectory, origin, and language. Among the main results, there were eight Edutokers from Peru and six from Ecuador. Educational influencers on TikTok from Peru had a larger number of followers. In conclusion, it is evident that the most recurrent themes of these channels are related to mathematics, technology, and finance.
