Scientific methods: analyze the most important aspects for intellectual property in the management of museums as public entities and make proposals to improve their management. Conclusions: Multiple collections or assets that are closely linked to the world of Industrial Property are deposited in museums. Museum intellectual property management can be divided into seven distinct categories: the IP inventory or audit; IP policy; licensing strategies; digital rights management solutions; Outsourcing; The communication and marketing plan; and environmental scanning. The recommendations for the continuous improvement of the categories of intellectual property management in the museum contribute to an efficient and instructive way of enabling the necessary management of these institutional resources.
