Abstract:

This work pretend to determine the relation between the quality of the gasoline expended in Ecuador (determined by its octane number), different atmospheric pressure of the country's regions (sea level, and higher than 2500 meters-above-sea-level), and the amount of the polluting emissions produced by the same test vehicle. In order to achieve this objective, a series of tests was make, consisting in taking five measures for each type of gasoline, in each studied region. Once the collected data was processed, many tendencies are obtain, depending on the measured gas produced by an engine, being the most relevant results, the little difference of polluting emissions between the two tested fuels for a 2860 MASL height, and the enormous difference between those fuels at sea level.
