Blockchain-Enhanced E-Ticket Distribution System to Effective Transactions, Validation, and Audits
Abstract:
Secure and efficient electronic ticket management in the entertainment industry is essential to ensuring the compliance of service-level agreements and the satisfaction of those involved. Despite its numerous benefits, the ease of duplication, fraud, and illegal resale pose several issues in the industry, which can adversely impact event organizers and legitimate buyers. Additionally, security breaches could compromise buyers' personal and financial information. Given this scenario, this study explores the capacity of Blockchain technology to transform electronic ticket management, focusing on transparency, security, and eliminating intermediaries. We propose implementing an electronic ticketing system based on Blockchain, mainly designed for managing raffles. This system issues electronic tickets recorded in encrypted form in a blockchain composed of multiple blocks. Each ticket is digitally signed and assigned to the buyer, and their data is recorded on-chain. The draws are carried out using random functions, and the results remain unchanged in the chain. At the end of the process, the system provides an option to download an audit chain that facilitates the validation and audit of the draws. To develop the Blockchain-based electronic ticketing system, we used the agile Scrum approach, which was implemented through the Java language in NetBeans IDE 14. A PostgreSQL database manager and the hash function algorithm are both used to build the blockchain. Each block is stored unstructured in a JSON-type field. The results demonstrate the creation of secure and transparent raffles, which are auditable through blockchain downloads, thereby fostering confidence in public access raffles.
