Transforming Graduate Data for Strategic Decision Making: A Business Intelligence Approach in Higher Education

Abstract:

The information about graduates from a higher education institution is crucial for enhancing curriculum design and academic training. The Graduate Tracking Unit of the Naval Technological Center of Higher Technological Institute (IST CETNAV) is responsible for collecting this data, which is not utilized effectively. Therefore, this paper proposes the application of Business Intelligence to improve the data processing and analysis, with development based on the CRISP-DM methodology. The provided data was analyzed to explore relationships among variables. The ETL process, which involves extraction, transformation, and loading of personal data, academic background, and employment status of graduates, was implemented using Power BI. The result is a solution that facilitates strategic decision-making by presenting an interactive dashboard with graphical visualizations that reflect clear and precise information on the indicators established by the institute’s graduate tracking unit, thereby enhancing information management.
