Design and Construction of an Eccentric Crank Mechanism for the Exchange of the Position of Objects
Abstract:
This paper presents the design, the simulation and the construction of a mechanism that allows the exchange of positions between objects through an eccentric crank mechanism and through a reduction box and a simple helical gear transmission ratio. The system is driven by a direct current motor, which converts the rotational motion into linear motion in two perpendicular directions. The methodology used consisted of the design carried out in SolidWorks, where all the components have been modeled and analyzed to detect possible collisions and interferences. In order to determine the trajectory, speed and acceleration, the dynamic behavior is simulated in the working model, which guarantees the functionality and the accuracy of the system. The physical construction of the mechanism has been achieved by using 3D printing technology, specifically employing PLA+ material, which has provided enough strength and durability for repeated operations. The tests initially confirm the mechanism's ability to perform accurate and smooth position exchanges, validating its suitability for automated industrial object position exchange processes. The novelty of the position exchange mechanisms by eccentric crank is that they are widely used in motion control processes and industrial automation, where the precision and accuracy of the linear movement guarantee quality and speed in production.
