Cloud Monitoring of an Ignition-Based SCADA System for Distributed Controller Networks
Abstract:
This research shows the procedures and the results obtained in the implementation of a web SCADA developed in the Ignition platform in order to manage the information of three industrial processes, simulated, from the web and in real time. A proprietary WinCC Advanced database has been configured for remote SCADA and a MySQL database for Web SCADA. The databases designed in the remote SCADA server link the information of the customers related to the status of the controls and meters that are necessary for the development of production reports and alarm histories, as well as the generation of trends of the monitored variables. By considering that IoT devices with the cloud platform communicate using the publish-subscribe method, in this research, the publisher is the SCADA Web (Ignition) and the subscriber is the PLC server. Horizontal and vertical communication has been configured using Industrial Ethernet, the proprietary COM S7 protocol and the open protocols Modbus and ProfiNet have been used. The simulated industrial processes have been an ON/OFF level control to fill a tank from an elevated tank, complying with established restrictions, a level control where a PID has been designed and tuned by applying the lambda method, and an assembly boxes where the assembly of products in batches is simulated and OPC communication is validated within a fluid simulation software with an automaton programming software.
