Reliability-Based Design Optimization for OPGW Cable Damper Systems
Abstract:
This paper explores the application of Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO) techniques to enhance the performance of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) damping systems. OPGW cables, critical components in overhead transmission lines, are prone to wind-induced vibrations, leading to potential fatigue damage and reduced operational lifespan. The methodology involves defining the RBDO problem and choosing an appropriate surrogate model based on Polynomial Chaos Expansion (PCK) to model complex interactions within the system and wind action. This approach considers uncertainties associated with environmental conditions, material properties, and other relevant factors. The RBDO framework facilitates the identification of optimal configurations of Stockbridge dampers that minimize vibration amplitudes and fatigue-related risks.
