A gap analysis of Energy Audit practices in ECUADOR (May 2014)
Abstract:
This study combines a review of Ecuador’s national policies and programs on energy auditing with information collected from a variety of Ecuadorian institutions involved in energy audits. In addition, a literature review of worldwide experiences in the field of energy audit techniques applied on heat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting and insulation, was performed. Furthermore, energy auditing tools were discussed and analysed, such as: thermal and lighting simulation tools; benchmarking energy-efficiency models; standards about energy management and energy audit techniques; and energy auditing policies. A key goal of this study was to conduct a gap analysis in the current energy auditing practice in Ecuador and how these practices differ from energy auditing practices found around the world.
