Image and heritage: architecture as a design communication object
Abstract:
This analysis presents the relationship between imagery and the heritage of cities, and its impact on the visual perception of urban identity, as shaped by their architecture. This work highlights how the physical characteristics of cities, represented through their buildings-such as forms, colors, textures, and other elements-are capable of conveying ideas and values present in the lives and development of their inhabitants. To achieve this, a literature review related to the topic was conducted, along with a case study analysis to understand the criteria and best practices that deepen the study of graphic design as a vehicle for information in these examples. We then see how graphic design acts as a key resource in shaping our observation of these tangible elements. Based on these observations, we recognize design and communication as the means for transformation, awareness, and dissemination of the values of our subject of study, architecture, making it approachable, accessible, and comprehensible to the public.
