Aplicación de la¨ Certificación Carbono Neutro¨ en las Empresas Ecuatorianas: Evaluación Eco-eficiencia Y Rentabilidad

Abstract:

The interest of Ecuadorian companies to maintain the balance between production and good environmental practices has increased, starting in 2011 with the obtaining of" Neutral Carbon Certification" as a strategy to achieve efficient processes, social responsibility, business prestige and access to new markets. The uncontrolled increase of gases with greenhouse effect, result of human activity and exogenous factors cause severe changes in climate. The objectives set out in this research consisted in the need to evaluate the outcomes of the application of the Neutral Carbon certification in the Ecuadorian companies that have opted for this certification and in establishing the benefits of knowing the" Carbon footprint" as a tool for efficient use of resources. This research was of exploratory type, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The data collection technique that was used is the survey directed to the executives of companies in Ecuador with neutral carbon certification within the period 2012 to 2015. This paper analyzed the implemented strategies that serve to refocus objectives based on a sustainable business model for the development of competitive advantages.
