Estimation of solar irradiance from heliophany as a tool to use in the agricultural technification of the coastal region of Ecuador
Abstract:
The accurate determination of solar radiation received by plants is essential to discern its effect in a great variety of scientific studies. Sunshine is the only data recorded about radiation in most meteorological stations in Ecuador. For this reason, it needs to use models that allow us to estimate the global radiation from sunshine. In this work, the Angström-Page model has been used to determine the fitness of the correlation between the data of daily sunshine and the global radiation in relation to the data recorded in one representative meteorological station in the region “Costa” of Ecuador. The characterization of this area was made by ten years data of different climatic parameters. The average values (four years) of the coefficients a and b determined by the Angström-Page model were the following: annual (0.2848 and 0.4895), wet season (0.2826 and 0.4904) and dry season (0.2803 and 0.4914). Considering the lower values of the coefficients of variation reported in our experiment, it can be highlighted that irradiance could be estimated by the model Angström-Page from annual sunshine with precision because the value of R2 was around of 0.8. This estimation could be used as useful tool in agricultural studies in the coastal region of Ecuador.
