Apoyo a Programas de Desarrollo en el Colegio Agropecuario San Miguelito y San Ignacio de Velasco, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

Abstract:

The ¨Proyecto Chiquitos¨ (Chiquito Project) is an international cooperation between the Private Technical University of Loja (UTPL – Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja) and the Bolivian Catholic University San Pablo-Chiquitos (Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo-Chiquitos), which provides students of UTPL the opportunity to learn about the Velasco province with its unique culture and history, which originated in the missional period (1691 – 1767) and survived until today. This study describes in detail the participation assumed within the South to South (Sur-Sur) Cooperation, the achievements, the expertise gained, and finally the impact of contributing to real-world necessities. To reach this goal, a historiographic study was performed about the culture of the missionary foundations, and about the actual situation of this historic culture. This study was conducted through text studies, interviews, and site visits. The document contains a list of projects developed for the Agricultural School San Miguelito (Colegio Agropecuario San Miguelito), for San Ignacio de Velasco, and for nearby indigenous villages. To give the document a clearer structure, it was divided according to the focus lines. The projects are described by summary tables, which contain the most important data needed to understand them.
