KPI’S Model Focused on the Evaluation of the Inventory Management of a Textile Company. A Case Study
Abstract:
Small and medium-sized textile enterprises work to satisfy a changing market, which makes efficient inventory management difficult; therefore, several control methodologies have been developed to help to make this task easier. Though, only few researchers have sought to evaluate the performance of inventory management considering the multiple existing control methodologies and that none of them can be adapted one hundred percent to the characteristics of a company. In this paper, a model of key development indica-tors for the evaluation of the inventory management of a textile company dedicated to the manufacture of leisure footwear is carried out. For its development, the Fink methodology was used for the bibliographic research, with which 16 KPI’s were obtained, 7 of which were selected through the application of weighting factors where the needs and characteristics of the company were considered. The model was applied to evaluate the company’s performance in the last year, obtaining as a result that its inventory management is deficient, since no indicator obtained favourable values in accordance with the acceptable ranges of each one. However, thanks to the implementation of this model, the company knows its current situation, understands the aspects in which it must improve and has a tool that will allow it to verify its evolution if improvement actions are taken.
