Application of quitomax® in the tomato crop (solanum lycopersicum l.) and evaluation of its effect on yield and nutritional value
Abstract:
The need for a healthier diet and with fewer agrochemicals, requires the use of biostimulants such as Quitomax®. In the present work, the application of several concentrations of Quitomax® and a control treatment on performance indicators and the nutritional value of tomato fruits (Solanum lycopersicum L.), var. Floradade. The plants were obtained from seeds seeded in trays that with 15 cm of height were transplanted to 1 kg bags containing Sogemix and sand as substrate. The treatments consisted in the foliar application of Quitomax® at 100, 200 and 300 mg.ha-1 at 20 and 25 days after the transplant. A randomized block design with five replicates per treatments was applied. The evaluations carried out were: number of flora clusters in four phases: beginning of flowering, massive flowering, beginning of fructification, massive fruiting. Additionally, the fruit number, equatorial and polar diameter of the fruits were evaluated, as well as the fresh biomass, thickness of the mesocarp, number of fruit locules, as well as yield. The protein content and the acidity in the fruits were also evaluated. As a result, the plants that were applied Quitomax®, at the highest dose, 300 mg ® ha-1 had a higher number of flower clusters and better performance indicators than the control treatment and the smaller doses of Quitomax®. Also the fruits from treated plants showed higher protein content and less acidity which improved their nutritional value.
