Application of the multi-step outflow experiments for determining soil hydraulic functions by the inverse method: experimental results
Abstract:
Results indicate that Campbell's model (1974), modifed by Hutson and Cass (1987), allows for a reasonably good description of the cumulative drainage vs. time data for several consecutives steps of pressure increase. The moisture retention relationships obtained from the inverse parameter optimization agree satisfactorily well with those derived from standard techniques. Moreover, the best results were obtained for cases where moisture retention and hydraulic conductivity parameters θs and Rs were constant, and only parameter θs was constant. Differences between these two cases were insignificant, hence running the inverse optimization procedure with only fixed parameter θs, equal to its independently measured value, is suggested. -English summary
