Abstract:

Objective: To describe the application of the nursing process in Ecuadorian hospitals. Materials and methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample was made up of 187 nurses from the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital and 179 nurses from the General Machala Hospital, belonging to the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, who re-sponded to a questionnaire validated by ex-perts and made up of 5 sociodemographic questions and 15 questions about the process nurse with five dimensions: assessment, diagnosis, planning, execution and evalu-ation. Results: 98.15% apply the nursing process, with a frequency of application of some times with 58.6%, in the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga the stage of greatest dif-ficulty is the assessment with 33.7%. Con-clusions: It was identified that the nursing process is applied by the Nursing staff in the institutions, however, in daily practice this is not the case, since several factors prevent its application, for this reason the Nursing staff mostly indicate that the saturation of patients in the services makes it difficult to carry out.
