Application of the score index as a pbkp_redicator of osteoporosis risk in menopauses, vicente corral moscoso hospital, Cuenca - Ecuador

Abstract:

Introduction: osteoporosis is a public health problem that can affect more than 70% of women after the age of 50 due to menopause, being the main cause of non-traumatic fractures that result in deterioration of their quality of life and mortality. Objective: to apply the SCORE Index as a pbkp_redictor of risk of osteoporosis in menopausal women, Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2019. Methodology: descriptive cross-sectional study. All the menopausal patients were evaluated, a total of 272. The data was collected through an interview that constituted the SCORE Index, considering: ethnicity, rheumatoid arthritis, fractures, age, use of estrogens, weight, in the same way the following were evaluated: marital status, educational level and residence. Results: the mean age was 54.7 ± 8.5 years; mestizo, 60.7%; had a primary education level, 64.7%; reside in urban areas and 60.7% were married. 52.9% had a moderate risk of osteoporosis and 11.1%, a high risk (n 64); being significantly associated with age older than 50 years (p = 0.001), where 81.6% presented risk (moderate-high) of this pathology. Conclusions: the SCORE Index is useful as a pbkp_redictor of osteoporosis, finding that 8 out of 10 menopausal women have moderate to high risk.
