Approach to the assessment of the potential eolic using numerical models of altitude and linear models of wind in the atmospheric boundary layer
Abstract:
One of the objectives of the present work is the determination of areas in which it is possible the use of the Eolic energy. In the study area information is not enough, reason why it is necessary to use other sources of data. Digital Elevation Models (DEM) allow us to know areas where the winds can flow due to orographic factors. A DEM for the area of the project was processed and obtained, with nodes every 0,001 degrees. Data of reanalysis of different elements performed by NASA were used. The equations corresponding to the variation of wind speed with altitude were calculated for every node, obtaining in each case a lineal model as a function of the natural logarithm of height. Maps of wind speed and direction were obtained for the wind at 50 meters from the reanalysis, which show a pattern that do not correspond with the presence of the Andean mountain range.
