Environmental and Sustainability Education in Ecuador in the Context of the Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract:
This paper presents the historical process of the incorporation of Environmental Education into Ecuador’s national educational system. It identifies national experiences, advances, achievements, limitations, and the absence of an environmental approach, and presents it as the means of strengthening the concept of sustainability and guiding the achievement of the SDGs through the support of various public and private institutions. Efforts are currently being made to introduce programs and projects in order to increase knowledge, promote values and develop practical skills to enable learners to address environmental problems and to raise awareness of sustainable development.
