Data, its uses and implications in democratic spaces

Abstract:

The modernization of States, the use of technology, Artificial Intelligence and the information society demand comprehensive and modern legislation on the use and protection of data that is in line with international demands and guidelines, but that obeys the specific realities of the countries. The aim is to promote trust between the public and private spheres, decision makers, and those who use the information. Therefore, this research proposes the analysis of policies related to regulation, protection and access to data, their implementation, and relationships. As a conclusion, it is determined that there must be an interconnection between data protection, access to information and freedom of expression that obey the specific reality of each state.
