Violence prevention in university contexts: Experience of educational innovation through Challenge-based Learning

Abstract:

Violence is a complex and multi-causal social phenomenon, therefore, the various manifestations could limit the free development of daily activities, as well as establishing appropriate interpersonal relationships, based on respect for the other person. Universities, being spaces of teaching, research, and innovation, consider the issue of violence to be of general interest, thus, teachers and students are potential generators of solutions, transmitting values and attitudes that favor behaviors of respect towards others. The Challenge-Based Learning [CBL] methodology promotes the experiential development and improvement of students’ skills in real situations, generating opportunities to deepen scientific knowledge. As a result of this experience, psychoeducational products were obtained to work on preventive actions towards violence whose beneficiaries are university students, as well as the development of innovation competencies.
