Asociación entre hábitos alimenticios y estado nutricional en pacientes con diagnóstico de síndrome de Down
Abstract:
caused by the presence of all or part of the third copy of chromosome 21. Objective: Associate dietary habits and nutritional status in patients with Syndrome of Down from 1 to 18 years attending the medical center of attention to the community of the medical technology school of the University of Guayaquil. Methods: The work is a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach and the technique is observational, measurement and analytical. Results: 73 evaluated patients identified in which the nutritional status of patients with Down syndrome was assessed, ranging from 1 to 18 years with an average of 6 to 10 and a standard deviation of ± 5.18. About sex, 38 men were identified (52%) and in women 35 (47.9%). Concerning nutritional status concerning weight/age, 26% of the male population has an average weight, regarding female sex 23% is among the appropriate ranges. Regarding eating habits, it is shown that there is a proper consumption of food groups in terms of frequency; however, regarding the amount of food per portion, the intake is incorrect, according to the feeding guide of the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid. Conclusion: it found that there is a statistically significant relationship between the eating habits and the nutritional status of the patients who go to the medical center of attention to the community of the medical technology school of the UG.
