Assessing the effect of supply base continuity on poverty alleviation: An empirical study with corn farmers
Abstract:
Managers are implementing projects and practices that incorporate poor suppliers into their supply chains. These projects respond to sustainable development pressures, and the firms’ need to secure the availability of raw material in the long term. Firms operating in developing countries need to tackle complex issues in order to ensure their future raw materials (eg poverty alleviation). In this regard, previous studies suggest that supply base continuity practices might offer solutions to these problems. This research addresses these concerns, and assesses whether supply base continuity practices alleviates suppliers’ poverty in developing countries. Managerial implications are also discussed.
