Associated factors to the residence capacity in selected adolescents of the sports federation of Azuay, period 2016–2017

Abstract:

This research is based on the application of" 14-item Resilience Scale (RS-14): Psychometric Properties of the Spanish Version" developed by Sánchez and Robles (2015), as a validation among Spanish population of the scale proposed in 1993 by the psychologists Wagnild and Young, called" Development and psychometric evaluation of the Resilience Scale"(1993). In both cases the test proved a high reliability and internal consistency, even if it is applied to different indistinct groups of age and gender. Applying the instrument, it was possible to obtain data for describing resilience in adolescents aged between 12 to 17 years who play sports activities within the Azuay Sports Office during academic period 2016-2017. In addition to identification and characterization of factors of personal competence and acceptance of oneself, present in the athletes take for the sample. The found result was that the average teen athlete of the FDA, has a resilience of 77.18 which equates to a very high rating. Highly resilient athletes showed a higher level of self-esteem than those with normal or low resilience, who showed flexibility and discipline as a protective factor.
